Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American singer, actress and music producer. Her family was home-schooled by her mother, in the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist insults, she was made to feel unwanted. As she entered the 9th grade she began to feel more comfortable after she was acknowledged by her teachers as a success for singing at a school's audition. She not only gained confidence from the experience and gained experience, but also changed her the direction of her career. The 22-year-old graduated with a degree from the Julliard School in New York. At the age of 23, her first Broadway performance with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her film debut You've Got Mail, were her biggest break. Her biggest breakthrough was when she appeared in the character of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway production of Spamalot receiving not just the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. She gained more recognition for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. A well-known performer, she has also recorded songs and plays. Also, she's been an advocate for LGBT concerns.
